Some people like to watch cats chasing a red laser-dot and falling off the table. Some people like to watch fat men try to ramp over a dirty river in an inflatable tube – and fail. And then there’s some people who like to watch other people being murdered.
Now, YouTube is the place to go for funny cat videos, but where can a man get some good old snuff? The answer, up until quite recently, was BestGore.com. That was, until it’s owner was arrested for “corrupting morals”.
BestGore hosted shocking videos of gang executions, women being tortured, body parts being maimed – basically everything that your brain intuitively feels is wrong. 38-year-old owner, Mark Marek had meticulously curated the site for years – which culminated in the site’s most popular video,”1 Lunatic 1 Ice-Pick”. “1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick is without a doubt the sickest thing you will have ever seen in your entire life,” wrote Marek when he originally posted the video.
The real question here is – does the guy deserve a long jail sentence for posting videos of real murders? Undoubtedly it’s very sick, and vile and distasteful. He stands accused “corrupting morals”, a Canadian law that can carry a jail sentence of two years.
The law states that:
“Anyone who makes, prints, publishes, distributes, circulates, or has in his possession for the purpose of publication, distribution or circulation any obscene written matter, picture, model, phonograph record or other thing whatever” may be indicted for a crime.
Whether or not he should go to jail, the likelihood is that he will almost definitely go to jail. And we, for one, won’t really argue with that.
(We checked the site – and it’s actually still running.)
