Fox News has just unveiled its ridiculous new newsroom – it’s clear they’re big fans of Minority Report. Their new studio comes complete with giant 55-inch touchscreen tablets (or BATs – Big Area Touchscreens), an 11,5 meter video wall full of tweets and journalists furiously touching, flicking and swiping through apps with potential news stories.
Take a look at the video of Shepard Smith giving you the grand tour, which could easily be mistaken for a College Humor or Saturday Night Live parody.
Fox says their new “news deck” has been created to appeal to a new generation of users who view the news on their smartphones and tablets through various apps. Smith says his team has spent “weeks” training to use the new software, which looks like its Windows 8 based. Let’s hope they get more training than the ANN7 team.
