While Twitter prepares to go public, founders Jack Dorsey, Biz Stone, Evan Williams and Noah Glass are pulling together to drive their future share price higher, despite suffering multiple messy divorces over the course of the last seven years.
Twitter was founded in 2006 when Williams, Dorsey, Stone, and Glass were working at podcast company Odeo when they began to look for a new way to swap text messages.
Before Twitter announced it’s intention to trade publicly, the state of plat between the founders was as follows:
Noah Glass – Departed from company. Claims he was never given enough credit for his role in founding Twitter. Specifically, he claims he coined the name, ‘Twitter’. His Twitter bio reads, “I started this thing.” Glass was not listed in the IPO documents.
Biz Stone – Stone was not listed in the IPO documents either, suggesting he no longer hold significant shares in the company.
Jack Dorsey – Current Chairman of Twitter. He no longer speaks to co-founder Evan Williams, who ousted him as CEO.
Evan Williams – Departed from Twitter. he ousted Dorsey as CEO, before being ousted by the board and replaced by Dick Costelo.
But all of that is water under the bridge, apparently – especially when billions of dollars stand to be made from a successful launch on the NYSE.
Mr Williams returned to the company’s headquarters to talk to staff earlier this week, with Mr Dorsey and Mr Stone, who tweeted: ‘Was at Twitter HQ today for a fun meeting. Go team!’
And, despite a long period away from Twitter, Mr Glass posted a tweet last month stating: ‘I wish the Twitter team the best of luck and trust that they will be successful in continuing to develop this important communication tool.’
