If you ‘play your cards right.’
Last weekend the 5 – 1 multiple came good and as a result there were a few happy people here at The Compound. This weekend is probably one of the best spreads to date, offering some very interesting options and involves the following matches:
Currie Cup
Cheetahs vs WP
Lions vs Sharks
Griquas vs Bulls
English Premier League
Chelsea vs Spurs
Champions League T20
Mumbai Indians vs Highveld Lions
We have decided to go with the big one this weekend.
So, here it is:
Cheetahs to beat Province in Bloemfontein
Sharks to beat the Lions
Bulls to beat the Griquas
Chelsea and Spurs to draw
The Highveld Lions to beat Mumbai Indians.
Justification:
Well, we feel that The Cheetahs really have got more to play for on Friday. if we assume that the Bulls win on the weekend, The Cheetahs would therefore be in dangerous position to not qualify for the semi finals. A position they really don’t want to find themselves in. At this stage, they still control their destiny and we believe this is enough to motivate them to get one over Province.
The Sharks have really looked like the team to beat of late and with 5 wins from 7 outings, are in a strong position to cement a home final. When compared with the Lions who have won only 50% of their games this season the coin flip surely should go the way of The Sharks on this one.
Bulls vs Griquas? Look, in all honestly both teams have had a season to forget but if The Bulls are to keep their loyal fans from having a complete meltdown they had better put together a performance this weekend. The Bulls have a big win in them, we feel its coming this weekend.
The Football game we have picked a cracker. The last corresponding fixture between Spurs and Chelsea at White Heart Lane ended in a 4 – 2 victory for Chelsea. This time however, we feel things may be slightly different. Chelsea have not had a great start to the season, especially given their below par Champions League performance agains Basel. They did however pick themselves up with a solid performance in a 2 – 0 win against Fulham last weekend. Spurs on the other hand have had a great start to the Premier League season with 12 points from 5 games and have not looked that they miss Bale in the slightest. This weekend will their biggest challenge this season and although we would love to see a goal fest we think the very opposite will happen. A draw is most definitely on the cards, possible a goal from each team but a draw is what we are going with.
Finally, we have some T20 action – Highveld Lions vs Mumbai Indians.
This is a must win for Mumbai Indians as the defending champions are lying 3rd in their group and have yet to record a win. So the heat is on and anything can happen in this format. The Highveld Lions on the other hand are not under as much pressure. Sure, they find themselves also without a win but they are not the defending champions and no one was expecting them to perform. Beware of the underdogs we say. The Highveld Lions to win! For sure.
And if these picks come off? Well at 65 – 1, let’s just say you are smiling. R150 makes you R9 750. What could you do with R9 750? How about this?
