Korea is going to be the home to the world’s first invisible skyscraper! GDS Architects are going to build what they’re calling ‘the anti-skyscraper’ – a 450 metre tower that will create an optical illusion to make it look like it’s disappearing into thin air.
Last week, California-based GDS Architects announced that the South Korean government approved its plan to build a tower equipped with a whole slew of technology that will help it disguise itself against the sky. It is set to have light emitting diodes and cameras that will help it mimic it’s background.
The tower is going to be called ‘Tower Infinity,’ and will be located in Seoul.
The tower’s state-owned backer, Korea Land & Housing Corp said that the tower will not pose a threat to air traffic even though it will be located a few miles away from a major international airport – saying that the optical illusion will take place at certain hours during the day, and the red aircraft warning lights will always be on.
