South Africa has a serious energy challenge on its hands. With our energy grid loaded to almost maximum capacity, Eskom has the very serious problem of trying to increase electricity output while managing the already stressed grid. Of course, they could do this by discouraging electricity use, but that would cause shrinkage in production and consumption, hurting our economy. Lucky for Eskom, a South African company called Illuminate is producing a light that will take a load off our electricity grid without asking us to turn off the lights.
