So this week serves up the following:
Rugby Championship:
South Africa vs Australia
Currie Cup:
Griquas vs Lions
Bulls vs Cheetahs
WP vs Sharks
International Football:
South Africa vs Botswana
Now lets have a look at a possible bet based on the above matches.
South Africa to beat Australia:
Although the Boks performance against Argentina 2 weeks ago was not convincing, it was a win and their unbeaten run in 2013 continues. Coach Heyneke Meyer has made 5 changes for the Brisbane test, most notably adding Bismarck to the run on team, this change will surely give the Boks the edge in the physicality stakes as well as at the breakdown. Even more so now that Aussie captain and 2nd row stalwart James Horwill misses out due to a hamstring strain. Will “My box kicks are always charged down” Genia will take over as captain for tomorrows must win game for Australia which kicks off at 12:05pm South African time.
Lions to beat Griquas
The Lions can consider themselves pretty unlucky to not come away with a win against Western Province last weekend at Ellis Park. They were denied by the boot of Kurt Coleman with a last minute successful penalty that ensured the match ended in a 31 all draw. The Lions however took away the 4 try bonus point thanks to a penalty try and surely the moral victory after coming from 25 – 10 down at halftime. The Griquas, on the other hand are down and out with another name, that of Hilton Lobberts, being added to the increasing injury list. Coach Human, is having to scrape the barrel a little and although Griquas will have the home ground advantage we can’t see this one going their way.
Cheetahs to beat Bulls
Not an easy one to call purely because a win a Loftus is never an easy feat but after a 5-point win last week that now sees The Cheetahs 2nd on the log, the Free State men will surely be going into this game on more of a high than their opposition. In contrast, the Bulls lost by 2 tries to 4, as The Sharks bagged full points in Durban. Although the game was closer than the scoreline suggests, The Bulls are sure to be licking their wounds after the loss to a rather clinical Sharks performance. The Bulls are now at the bottom of the log and will surely be feeling the heat.
Sharks to beat Western Province
The top of the log clash at Newlands is probably the game of the weekend and also a tough one to predict. Based purely on current standings and overall performances last week, we are giving The Sharks the edge in this one. With Butch James starting at 10 and the return of Tim Whitehead at inside centre, this all important combination may just be the difference on the day especially taking into account Whithead’s knowledge of the opposition and conditions at Newlands. Province coach, Coetzee admits that his team will be facing a very different Sharks team and overallapproach to the one they became accustomed during the Plumtree era.
Bafana DRAW against Botswana
Football is a funny game in the sense that the weaker team can prevent a clearly stronger team from scoring. A defensive approach can be adopted from the get go and whilst this can be bad for TV, it does provide the weaker team with a chance to frustrate their opposition. Bafana are the favourites going into this must win World Cup match in Durban on Saturday but if Coach Igesund’s concerns about conversion rate in front of goal continue to be a problem on Saturday and the fact that Botswana may well look to provide very few opportunities for Bafana in the box with a defensive gameplan this match may well end up in a stalemate.
There really is no reason for you not to get involved now. Remember also that the above is based on one multiple with odds of 45 – 1 but there are a few different multiples available for you to have ago at ranging from 6 – 1 to 500 – 1.
