Love Instagram? You’ll love this hotel. Sydney’s 1888 Hotel, named after the year Kodak brought out their first box and roll camera is totally Instagram themed, and super trendy.
The whole hotel is decorated with guest-shot Instagram photos and there’s even a space for you to take a selfie when you check in. At the entrance, a revolving digital mural of Instagram photos, obviously, and if you have over 100,000 followers, you get a free night’s stay. That’s not the only freebie though, for those less famous, there’s a monthly competition where the guest who snaps the best pic of the establishment gets a free night’s stay – score. Non-Instagram users, rooms start at R1434. 8Hotels has spent two years and over R307 million to create this place. Their CEO, Paul Fischman, had this to say,
There has always been a strong, intrinsic link between travel and photography, but the advent of social media and Instagram has made photo-sharing an even bigger part of the traveler’s experience. People not only want to visit and stay in beautiful places, they also want to capture and share it with their friends and networks as it happens.
