Check out Norway’s Halden prison. This maximum security prison seems more like a hotel than anything else. The prison spent around $1million on paintings, photography and light fixtures to ease the psychological burdens of being punished.
Since the maximum sentence for any crime is 21 years in Norway, the prison focuses on preparing the inmates for life after jail. The rooms are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, ceramic tiles, mini-fridges and flat-screen TVs. Which might be better than your home, depending on whether or not you’re reading this from res.
Prison guards receive two years of training to teach them how to motivate the inmates, so that they can have meaningful and enlightened sentences. With this in mind, the guards usually eat meals and play sports with the prisoners.
It even has a recording studio!
Do you think this prison helps rehabilitate prisoners?
