Elton John has released more than his fair share of monster hits, but his most famous track is undoubtedly ‘Your Song’. The song was released in 1970, and was written by Bernie Taupin when he was 17-years-old, “hence the extraordinary virginal sentiments”. Virginal sentiments aside, the song was written in 10 minutes at a breakfast table. Taupin said:
It’s a gem. It’s like a good dog, always there… I’ve heard it sung a million times.
According to Stelist.FM, John has performed the hit song 1,861 times.
