In a glorious continuation of the family tradition of looking at things, a picture has surfaced of North Korean leader Kim Jung-un inspecting a smartphone factory in his country. According to the state run news agency KCNA, the smartphone factory has manufactured the Arirang handset. The phone was designed with Google’s Android OS in mind.
But techsperts are calling BS. Steven Milward wrote:
One likelihood with this North Korean Arirang phone is that all the parts are actually made in China, and final assembly is done in North Korea. Or, possibly, the whole smartphone is made in China, and only the final boxing is done in the rather sparse plant that Kim Jong-un toured.
Some argue that the building in the picture has been used before when Kim Jung-un and his father were inspecting a flat screen TV factory which was a fake.
The news agency also said that the leader was very impressed with the factory workers “creative ingenuity and patriotic enthusiasm” when they built the “new modern hand phone”.
