A 58-year-old man was arrested for drunk driving on Sunday in Cape Town. Reports surfaced that this man could be the ANC national executive committee member, Tony Yengeni. This has not yet been confirmed.
Captain Frederick van Wyk said:
He was detained at Cape Town central police station for the duration of the night and released on bail this morning, 7.30am Monday.
He is due to make a court appearance at Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on 4th March 2014.
Van Wyk did not confirm if said man was indeed Yengeni, but Die Burger reported that Yengeni was spotted leaving the police station on Monday morning, where he had paid bail of R500.
Yengeni has previously been arrested for driving while under the influence, but was found not guilty.
