Soon to be top of Christmas lists everywhere is the “smartwatch”. A month ago the rumour was confirmed that Apple plan to release their first smartwatch, the iWatch. Now, plans for Samsung’s watch, dubbed “Samsung Gear” or “Samsung Galaxy Gear”, have been revealed through a series of patent and trademark filings, and it looks pretty damn sexy! The plans, well, sketches, show a device with a flexible screen that wraps around the wrist made of metal and other synthetic materials.
Smartwatches will be the most important new product category in consumer electronics since the iPad defined the market for tablets
Analyst Chris Jones, said:
Software platforms tied to smartwatches will also be a tremendous opportunity for developers to write apps in categories such as health and wellness or sports and fitness.
The documents also show that the watch will have access to the internet, enabling users to receive emails, texts and phone calls from their wrist. The future is now-now.
