The campaign to re-name the streets of Gugulethu was a great success, and has won a prestigious global award for the GOOD Global Citizenship Project. The project is funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The challenge offered five community innovators from around the globe the opportunity to make a difference in their neighbourhoods.
