A Cape Town teen was forcibly taken from her home in Grassy Park on Monday morning and put in the back of a bakkie. The teenager said:
I was going to school and busy closing the front door when someone attacked me from behind. The person tried to suffocate me, but I fought back.
The 16-year-old student of Plumstead High School was forced into the back of a bakkie where she lost consciousness. Fortunately for her she had her cellphone on her and as soon as she regained consciousness she called her mother.
She kicked the sides of the bakkie in an attempt to grab the attention of passersby. One of the kidnappers tried to calm her down and then moved her to the front of the vehicle where she was able to attract the attention of bystanders in Bree Street.
The teenager said:
They could see that I was crying and I hit the windshield.
The people who noticed her approached the vehicle and the teenager escaped. Nearby shop owners contacted the police.
According to the teenager’s mother she had received a threatening letter, and thinks her daughter may have been targeted.
The kidnapping is under investigation and no arrests have been made.
As the teenager is underage, her name could not be published.
