Not that you need another one, but here’s a cautionary tale against online classifieds.
A 21-year-old woman from Brisbane logged on to Gumtree recently with the intention of purchasing two Apple iPhones. Casting a wide net, she placed an ad stating as much. A respondent contacted her, and advised that he had two apples for sale.
The young woman then met the respondent at a local McDonald’s branch, and exchanged the cash for two new Apple iPhone product boxes, both of which contained actual apples.
She paid Aus $900, which equates to roughly R13,500. For two times mediocre fruit.
Shem.
