Cleveland resident Ariel Castro kidnapped three women, and held them in his home for over 11 years. Authorities were alerted to the crime when one of the women managed to escape. He appeared in court on Thursday where he claimed his actions were due to an addiction. He said:
I’m not a monster. I’m a normal peson. I’m sick just like an alcoholic.
He also claimed that the house where he lived with the women was not as they described it.
There was a lot of harmony in that home… Most of the sex that went on in the house was consensual.
“Most of the sex…” You charmer, you. During the trial, prosecutors revealed these images of the inside of Castro’s house. The images show chains which have been reported to have been used to restrain the women, and a wig which the women wore on the odd occasion they were allowed to leave the house. The pictures presented in court also showed the room where Amanda Berry and her daughter (fathered by Castro) were kept.
