After the Spanish train crash in the North West region of Galicia killed over 80 people when it derailed, there has been much discussion about the train driver.
Francisco Jose Garzon Amo has already been caught out for talking about speeding on Facebook, but now the man who allowed the train to allegedly travel at twice the normal speed, is said to have been talking on his mobile phone at the time too.
According to a statement released by a northern Spanish court on Tuesday, the 52-year-old was talking on the phone to a Renfe official (state-owned railway operator).
Minutes before the train came off the tracks he received a call on his work phone to get indications on the route he had to take to get to Ferrol. From the content of the conversation and background noise it seems that the driver consulted a map or paper document.
Francisco was released on Sunday after a two-hour closed hearing, he admitted losing concentration and speeding into the curve, thinking there was another section to the track.
