Yves Rossy a former Swiss Air Force pilot is known as the Jetman. This is the closest thing to freedom thanks to a carbon fibre wing and four jet engines that are secured to his back.
Wired was invited to the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to witness the flying man.
Rossy said:
That is one of the best moments, this pass from vertical to flying. I am flying. I am not falling anymore, I am flying.
This video shows Rossy flying in formation with a Boeing B-17. The B-17’s pilot George Daubner said:
The perspective of seeing a guy off your wing, with a wing on his back — there’s just nothing to prepare you for it. I don’t think any of us expected the maneuverability he had.
