Once you’ve heard that beautiful empty Trash icon sound, do you know where all your old deleted creations actually go? Do they simply disappear, or do they go to the same place your socks go when they go missing?
Truth is, it’s a little bit more complex than you thought. If you thought that the files inside are gone forever once you have emptied your Trash or Recycle Bin, you are sorely mistaken – they are actually there, but just unavailable. The file is still taking up space, though the space it’s taking up, is also unavailable. HUH?
This means that until another file is saved on the same sectors as your deleted file, it’s still going to be there.
With the correct software, one can actually bring back a deleted file – depending on if it has not been overwritten too many times. The video above by a YouTuber named Vsauce may be able to help you understand this a bit more clearly.
