Real Madrid has dominated European soccer with 32 La Liga titles and nine UEFA Champions League trophies. The football club has seen stars like Raul, Ronaldo, David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane and Christiano Ronaldo walk through its doors. And now the club is the world’s most valuable sports franchise. It is worth a reported $3,3 billion (R29 billion).
In 2012 the club’s kit supply deal with Adidas was extended and is now worth $42 million a year. Earlier this year their largest sponsorship deal was confirmed with Emirates. It is a five year deal worth $39 million annually, just so Emirates can put their logo on the team’s shirts.
There are plans in the works to have the stadium Santiago Bernabeu renovated. The renovation will cost $320 million and it could yield $60 million a year by 2018. The club is operated by Spanish billionaire Florentino Perez. And is owned by 93,000 members, who each pay $195 annually.
The second most valuable club is Manchester United, who are worth $3,17 billion. They opened their stocks to the public and as a result their stock has increased by 23%. They have a shirt sponsorship with Chevrolet worth $559 million for seven years.
Barcelona is the third most valuable soccer club, worth $2,6 billion. The team has 61 million Faceboook and Twitter followers, the largest across all sports.
