Asiana Airlines Flight 214 that crash landed last weekend has horrific images but no video to show what in fact went wrong.
An animated video by Jack Suchocki, an airline pilot and forensic animator, has since been released showing a rendering of the accident that took place last Saturday.
According to YouTube, “All times, speeds, distances and scaling contained are accurate.” In order to show the extremity of the situation, the video also contains a second aircraft, showing how the landing should’ve taken place.
Suchocki told Mashable:
He used multiple sources for his detailed reconstruction. To re-create the precise flight scenario — as well as match the runway events with the air-traffic-control chatter — he used “NTSB Press releases, NTSB press conferences, AirNav.com, Google Earth Pro, passenger statements, Flight 214 crew statements, FAA released radar data (also contained in NTSB releases) and LiveATC.net.
Suchocki said that he will be updating the video when he acquires any new information and adding different perspectives of the ordeal.
We are also considering a segment demonstrating exactly how the Auto Throttle system works sometime in the near future.
