China’s Sichuan province has been hit with days of torrential rainfall causing deadly floods and landslides in the province. Landslides have ruined highways resulting in the province being completely isolated from the outside world. Some 220,000 people have been relocated, with 31 dead and 166 missing thus far.
Disaster Relief Team member Lian Kai said:
We’re laying wooden sleepers and sandbags to re-channel the flood from the roads. We hope it will prevent more collapses.
Heavy rains began on Monday evening affecting over 2 million residents.
According to weather forecasts, the conditions are set to improve but authorities are warning that more rain will return next week.
