Founding UB40 Member Goes Broke, Joins UB40 Tribute Band And Plays Himself

Founding member of UB40 Brian Travers has been playing himself in tribute band UB42. And now Travers wants to do more of it with other UB40 tribute bands.

Brian Travers was the founding member and saxophonist of the 80’s band UB40 but has recently been seen playing himself in a tribute band named UB42.

Pete Ryder, frontman of UB42 said:

They had a tour that was cancelled recently because their new album isn’t ready yet so he had a bit of spare time and he decided he would come and join us.

Travers said his experience with the cover band as a positive one, going as far as saying that he planned to do it more often. Travers said:

I know of about twenty UB40 tribute bands around the world. It’s my ambition to play with all of them. I can’t think of a better way of thanking them for celebrating the music of UB40.

Since the collapse of the band’s record label, it’s been reported that the members of UB40 have gone bankrupt. The band debt is hovering at £750,000 (R 11,4 million).
