Hundreds of people outside a railway station in Jilin city spotted an erotic movie being played on an LED screen last week Wednesday. 10 minutes of the movie was aired on the public LED screen from the film Xin Jin Ping Mei. When the Jilin Public Security Bureau arrived on the scene, the screen had been switched off.

The LED screen’s sole purpose is for advertising and it is the property of Southern Advertising Company, but when the screen malfunctioned in June, a technician was called out. Yuan Mou from Fujian Kewei Optical Company was the person in charge of correcting the malfunction. Mou was under the impression that the computer for the screen had been disconnected. This is when he started watching the porn movie.

Moments later Mou received a call from Southern Advertising Company informing him that a porn movie was being displayed to hundreds of passersby outside the railway station. He immediately disconnected the computer and discarded the porn movie. Needless to say Mou’s porn incident went viral on Sina Weibo. Some comments felt the movie should be screened more often, one poster said “this is good advertising”.

Mou was taken into custody on Friday and the incident is still under investigation.
