And the moment you’ve all been waiting for is here. This is the “how to” guide to creating a hipster-esque Instagram video. Mashable has brought us step-by-step instructions to using the new Instagram 4.0 feature that is set to wipe out Vine and other annoying social media in the near future.

Once you’ve installed and upgraded the app, this is what you do.

To get started, tap the blue background, just like you do before you take a photo.

Tap the movie camera icon to the right of the Instagram camera.

Once your scene is set up and you are ready for shooting, press the red video camera button. The video will only record while you are holding down the button and will end when the duration reaches 15 seconds.

When you wish to stop recording, take you finger off the icon. Each scene is represented by a blue segment at the bottom of the screen in a timeline. If you wish to erase a scene tap the “x” or backspace icon on the left of your screen. The segment you have selected will turn red and a trash can will come up, giving you the option to delete it. Bare in mind, you can only delete the last frame of your video.

Now is when the fun starts. Just like editing your Instagram photos, you have the choice of filtering your video by choosing one of the 13 effects on the app. Once you have selected your filter, you can choose your desired cover frame.

Now you can name, share and write a caption for your masterpiece.
