Actor James Gandolfini who played Toni Soprano on the hit TV series The Sopranos passed away from a heart attack on 20 June 2013. Since Gandolfini’s passing, there has been an outpouring of messages of love from celebrities on Twitter and through other media, as well as messages from his many fans.
Bradd Pitt and Gandolfini worked together on three movies, “The Mexican”, “True Romance” and “Killing Them Softly.” Pitt released a statment on Thursday following the death of James Gandolfini.
I admire Jimmy as a ferocious actor, a gentle soul and a genuinely funny man.
I am fortunate to have sat across the table from him and am gutted by this loss. I wish his family strength and some semblance of peace.
The creator of The Sopranos, David Chase had only true and kind words to say about Gandolfini.
For [wife] Deborah and [son] Michael and [daughter] Liliana his death is crushing. And it’s bad for the rest of the world. He wasn’t easy sometimes. But he was my partner, he was my brother in ways I can’t explain and never will be able to explain.
And these heart felt messages came from the Twitter world.
I’m truly heartbroken to hear that James Gandolfini has passed away. He is one of my all time favorite actors. Tragic loss.

So sad to lose James Gandolfini. One of the sweetest, funniest, most generous actors I’ve ever worked with. Sending prayers to his family.
