Global Firepower has taken the time to determine who has the most powerful military. The company used different statistics about each country and produced a “power index”. The lower the power index, the greater the firepower. When calculating the power index, factors such as total number of aircraft, defense budgets and available manpower were considered. Global Firepower was able to compile a list of the countries best avoided when it comes to military related arguments. There are 68 countries that make up the Global Firepower list, and these are the top 10:
1. United States
The United States of America has the lowest power index with 0,2475. They have a defense budget of $689,591,000,000 and have 1,477,896 active military or frontline personnel. They have 15,293 aircraft.
2. Russia
The country has a power index of 0,2618 and a defense budget of $64,000,000,000. Russia has 4,498 aircraft and 1,200,000 active military peronnel.
3. China
China has a power index of 0,3351. The country’s defense budget is $129,272,000,000 with 2,285,000 active military personnel. They have a total number of 5,048 aircraft.
4. India
Has a power index of 0,4346 and a defense budget of $44,282,00,00. There are 1,325,000 active military personnel Their military has a a total of 1,962 aircraft.
5. The United Kingdom
The country’s power index is 0,5185. The defense budget is $57,875,170,000 with 1,412 aircraft and 224,500 active military personnel.
6. France
A defense budget of $58,244,000,000 and a power index of 0,6163. There are 362,485 active military personnel with only 544 aircraft.
7. Germany
Germany has a defense budget of $43,478,000,000. There are 148,996 active frontline personnel and an available manpower of 36,417,842. Germany has 925 total aircraft. And has a power index of 0,6491.
8. South Korea
South Korea has a power index of 0,6547. The country has 653,000 active frontline personnel and 25,609,290 of available manpower. They have 871 aircraft and a defense budget of $28,280,000,000.
9. Italy
Italy has a power index of 0,6838 and a defense budget of $31,946,000,000. A total of 770 aircraft and 293,202 active frontline personnel make up other figures of firepower.
10. Brazil
The country has a power index of 0,6912 with a defense budget of $31,576,000,000. A total of 822 aircraft and 371,199 active frontline personnel isn’t too shabby either.
