National Security Agency (NSA) snitch Edward Snowden revealed on Sunday that he was behind the leaked information of the NSA’s surveilance programme. Snowden recently explained in an interview with journalist Glenn Greenwald his reasoning to go public with the information.
While some are teaming up together and preparing for Snowden’s arrest, it seems others are routing for his freedom. Snowden has gained a following of supporters. A petition has been put in place to have the Obama administration pardon Snowden. The Petition says Snowden is a “national hero” and “should be immediately issued a a full, free, and absolute pardon for any crimes he has committed or may have committed.”
United States President Obama commented on the leaked information:
There’s a reason why these programs are classified.
I think that there is a suggestion that somehow any classified program is a ‘secret’ program, which means it’s somehow suspicious.
In order for the White House to respond to the petition, the petition is required to have 100,000 signatures.
The petition To Pardon Edward Snowden has to date received over 40,000 signatures.
