It seems somebody forgot they were in parliament. The Minister of Education in Israel, Shai Piron, also a rabbi, could not contain his laughter while reading a speech. Piron could not get past the first sentence before breaking into laughter after reading the word ‘penetration’.
Piron said:
Mr. Chairman, distinguished Parliament, the aim of this legislation is to deal with a serious phenomenon – the penetration of prohibited objects into prisons.
The minister managed to recover, but when that word appeared in his speech again he was laughing once more along with everybody else in the hall. Needless to say, Piron could not continue with his speech.
Prion had a good excuse though. The minister was not supposed to read the speech, his colleague who was meant to deliver the speech was called away and Piron was caught off guard with that word.
