A 13-year-old Chinese girl, Roa Yao, was handcuffed and forced to parade up and down the street for at least 20 minutes. Why? She accidentaly spilled her water on a government car. The officials that reportedly cuffed the teenager, a Communist Party secretary Yuan Zehong and a police officer Chen Song, have since been suspended.
The teenager’s humiliation has caused an outcry on Chinese social media sites. A post on a social media site claims the teenager got into an argument with officials in Hezhang, Guizhou province. The incident occurred on 6 April after the girl reportedly spilled water on a government car. The town’s deputy mayor got into an argument with Yao, then called over Yuan Zehong, who allegedly beat Yao’s aunt.
This led to her subsequent handcuffing and being paraded up and down the street. The teenager was made to parade for at least 20 minutes while being led by a police car with sirens on. She was taken to the police station and detained for 12 hours, illegally.
Zehong said (translated from original Chinese text):
If the Party committee and government says you’re white [innocent/good], you’re white. If it says you’re black [guilty/bad], then you’re black. I can get several cars of people to come fight with you whenever I want. However you want to play, I can play with you.
This official’s actions in particular have caused outrage, with reports suggesting this as being one of many brutal acts on people.
