If you have what is immaturely classified as a “real job” the peril that is finding time to make, remember, bring and eat your “meals of the day” can become something that is more daunting than waking up to go to work itself. Most of us get creeped out by the idea of eating too early in the morning – others consider coffee to be a fine supplement for that infamous thing called breakfast – yet we wonder why we are always hungry throughout the day. Instead of sleeping that extra minute (which in essence makes you more tired than when your alarm goes off) get up and make yourself something to eat or something you can take with you to the office. If this notion is something that is impossible to the morning dreamers – it’s understandable – sleep your extra minute but before you go to bed put something together that you can take for a nibble in the car or with your office coffee.Choose something to eat that is not too complicated or extravagant for your first meal – especially if the look of food in the early hours makes you feel a little queazy.
Remember if you have time to grab an Egg McMuffin then you have time to make your own breakfast. Lunch – that part of the day when the stomach makes noises you don’t want any associates to hear. Mary Hartley, registered dietitian said:
Don’t starve yourself at lunch – it will only lead to overeating later
For lunch you need something substantial, something that can carry you out to that 5 o’clock cut off without bad snacking. A naughty way to make sure you have the easiest lunch on the go is to make something the night before, so you can use the leftovers, it makes sense and it saves money.
HERE is a list of some yummy lunches you can make for yourself. Too much effort? There are also apps that have been put together in order to make your life on the go, easier. Spark Recipes is one of the favourites. This app is available for all smartphones and tablets and is also a detailed website. The app is desired to be “at your fingertips to make finding a recipe on-the-go a breeze.” Spark Recipes lets you choose origins, courses, calories and even specifies your dietary needs. In case you are worried about trying to make your quick and easy meal – there is also an option of seeing the ratings of the recipes from the people who have used them before.
And how can you trust that what you’re eating isn’t better than just picking up your usual from the corner cafe? Well the SparkRecipe app also comes with all the nutritional information you need.
Another excuse we use is the lack of tupperware… plastic is cheap okes, you can get sets of tupperware from your favourite convient store or age a bit and go to a tupperware party.
Still not convinced? Then you can go the “green” route if you will – reuse old glass jars, ice-cream tubs etc.
The business that runs our day is something we can’t primarily ignore – but if you are willing to give it a go – the most important thing to remember is to plan ahead. If you do this then the stress during the day of needing to eat will become much less and you will find that eating on the go and properly at the office is very doable and vital if you ask me. 😉
