Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there have been machines popping up in jobs that us humans once did. A reported 1,1 million robots are amoung us in the working world.
In 2011 the robot industry made a hefty R77 128 000 000,00 in sales on the estimated 160 000 robot units they sold.
So, what are the robots used for you may ask?
From sorting through rubbish, to making cars, a robot can do just about anything you want it to put its mind settings to. But as of now, the two most impressive robots to date, would be the “Baxter” and “Hoya Robot.” Baxter is a humanoid robot that can actually work with humans in factories. The Hoya Robot is from Korea and is designed to be a modern day firefighter. The robot can enter a burning building and withstand up to 160 degrees celsius. The robots are used as a source of information for firefighters, they can show them images, sound and measure temperature up to about 50 meters away.
And if you thought your job was in danger, don’t fret. Robotics has globally created 300 000 jobs for people, which is said to increase by 45 000 by 2018.
