If you weren’t already in love with Zach Galifianakis for his amazing humour, beard, or pot-belly – then this could be the thing that sends you over the edge.
When the comedian was 25-years-old, he befriended a homeless, elderly, laundromat volunteer. Elizabeth “Mimi” Haist was her name and Zach, being the legend that he is, got her an apartment and took care of the bills in the process.
After 20 years of friendship, 87-year-old Mimi has been taken to red carpet events – quite the opposite to a life on the street. She will reportedly walk with Galifianakis at the premiere of the Hangover Part III on Monday.
Mimi told New York Daily News:
If he’s in town, he takes me. Otherwise he lets me take a friend. I dress up nice and a friend helps me with my makeup. It’s fun, not something I’ve ever dreamed I’d experience. The limo takes me home afterwards.
How sweet?
Mimi still works at FOX laundry where Galifianakis found her and looks happy in her ripe age.
