Dove is the new king of the most watched Internet advert, ever. The “Dove Real Beauty Sketches” received more than 114 million views on YouTube as well as other video sharing sites. Miss popular is the most shared video in a year and the thrid most shared of all time. Fernando Machado, Vice President of Dove Skin said:
The moment that the Dove Real Beauty Sketches film was uploaded to the Dove YouTube page, it quickly started to gain traction around the world with men, women, media and even other brands sharing the film. The campaign evoked an emotional reaction in millions of people that inspired them to share the positive message with others. Beyond just the millions of views and publicity impressions, it is the outpouring of testimonials from around the world that are exciting us.
The advert debuted last month with Gil Zamora, a San Fransisco forensic artisit drawing women as they imagine themselves and then again as a total stranger views them. The images were placed side by side to illustrate that most women think they are less attractive compared to how others see them. According to Unilever:
