Carl Pistorius (brother of OP) hugged his legal council in an outpouring of emotion following a ruling by Magistrate Buks du Plessis of the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court that he be acquitted of culpable homicide chargers.

Pistorius faced charges of culpable homicide and reckless and inconsiderate driving.

Magistrate Buks du Plessis ruled that Pistorius was not a negligent driver, saying it was clear that Barnard was travelling at excessively high speed at the time of the accident.

The ruling comes just in time for the Pistorius family to baton down the hatches for Oscar Pistorius’ murder trial, which is due to kick off in June.
