By now we are aware that Justin Bieber has tons of fans and tons of enemies. The 19-year-old performing artist has taken a bashing over the last few years and at the Billboard Awards he decided to let people know what he thought.
When Justin beat off Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars to be announced as the winner of the Milestone Award on Sunday night, he wasn’t engulfed with the usual Belieber shrieks he knows so well. In the midst of the cheering there was also some booing coming through from the crowd.
In Justin’s defense, he began to explain, “I’m 19-years-old. I think I’m doing a pretty good job,” fair enough coming from the Canadian pop sensation.
He went on to say the following:
Basically from my heart I really just want to say it really should be about the music. It should be about the craft that I’m making. This is not a gimmick, and I’m an artist, and I should be taken seriously.
If the crowd was that ruthless, we can only imagine what would have happened if one of the other nominees won.
Shame.
