With over 200 million users, LinkedIn has become quite the popular professional social media platform. Recently the site made a few changes with its privacy policy. Some of the usual changes were expected and then, wham, they put this clause in there. You shall not:
Upload, post, email, InMail, transmit or otherwise make avaliable or initiate any content that: Even if it is legal where you are located, create profiles or provide content that promotes escort services or prostitution.
But who would even do this when your profile is of your professional self. If you are looking for this professional help and search “escorts”, these terms appear as a “search instead for” result; female escorts, independent escorts, call girls, hot girls, adult entertainment, escort services and Dubia escorts.
In the past LinkedIn has attempted to forbid “unlawful” services. But some always seem to creep through the cracks.
A representative from LinkeIn said:
In the old [user agreement], we had it covered by saying that one could not use a profile to promote anything ‘unlawful’. However, in some countries, that activity actuallyis lawful.
Now the social networking site is covering all its tracks to stop prostitution promotion on the site.
