Amanda Berry, one of three women held captive by Ariel Castro, had been missing for 10 years, but escaped from her captor on Monday with her six-year-old daughter thanks to this guy, Charles Ramsey. Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight were reportedly abducted separately and held prisoner for between nine and 11 years. The father of Berry’s daughter has not yet been determined.
Since the release of the women, gory details describing their time in captivity have emerged. The latest evidence to have been discovered includes ropes and chains from the home in Cleveland, Ohio where the women where being held.
Police reports state that the three women were held in a basement, restrained with ropes and chains and on occasion deprived of food. The reports also say that one of the three women suffered five miscarriages, due to Castro starving and beating the woman.
Castro taunted his captives by pretending to leave the house. If the women attempted to escape, they were beaten.
[He would] play this little dangerous game that he would tell the women he was about to leave the home, and then he would wait and if one of them tried to open that door, he would go in and attack them.
