When Charles Ramsey heard cries from his neighbour’s Seymour Avenue house on Monday, he ran to the rescue. What he didn’t know at the time was that he had just found three girls who had been kidnapped some 10 years earlier. Charles Ramsey and Angel Cordero broke down the door to his neighbour’s house find Amanda Berry who disappeared in 2003, as well as kidnap victims Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus.

But this Cleveland man is fast becoming famous for his snappy turn of phrase, more than anything else. 

I knew something was wrong when a little pretty white girl ran into a black man’s arms. Something is wrong here. Dead giveaway! 

Reactions to that statement were mostly positive.

The video of Ramsey’s statement has become a overnight sensation, hitting over 1,000,000 views in two days.

The girls have been released from hospital and investigations are underway.
