The public of Hong Kong got a pleasant surprise yesterday, when the world’s largest inflatable duck waddled in to the Victoria Harbour.
The artwork was created by Florentijin Hofman, who is known for his love of turning everyday objects into larger than life pieces of art that are inoffensive and free from political statement.
According to Hofman:
the Rubber Duck aims to be a happiness-inducing sculpture that gives people a break from their daily routines.
Ducky received a warm welcome by the Hong Kong police band as he floated behind a tug boat to the South side of the Ocean Terminal after his adventures in Australia, Osaka and Sao Paolo.
The 46-foot-tall and 55-foot-long floating sculpture will call Hong Kong its home until 9 June.
What do you think the chances are of him joining us in Cape Town?
