One of the bystanders at the Boston Marathon on Monday was able to assist the FBI in identifying the man who planted one of the bombs. Jeff Bauman, pictured above being wheeled away from the scene, said he looked into the eyes of the man who tried to kill him.
Bauman was waiting close to the finish line for his girlfriend when he said a man wearing a cap, sunglasses and a black jacket over a hooded sweatshirt looked at the 27 year old and a dropped a bag at his feet. This was reported by his brother Chris Bauman in an interview.
Two an a half minutes later, the bag that was dropped at his feet exploded, tearing Jeff’s legs apart. He lost both of his legs from the knee down. His brother, Chris said in an interview:
He woke up under so much drugs, asked for a paper and pen and wrote, ‘bag, saw the guy, looked right at me.
While Jeff was still in intensive care he was able to give the FBI a description of the man he saw. And this information helped investigators to narrow down the search to find the suspects, one of which is dead and the other is at large, and said to be dangerous.
