UPDATE: Police have confirmed between 5 and 15 people killed by the blast. Initial reports by local Texas media of up to 70 deaths were wildly inaccurate.
A fire at a fertilizer plant in West Texas resulted in a massive explosion, producing multiple injuries and a death toll reported to be between 60 and 70 people. Jason Shelton, a hotel clerk who lived near by said:
It was a small fire and then water got sprayed the ammonia nitrate, and it exploded just like the Oklahoma City bomb.
This video of the explosion has gone viral. If you’re wearing headphones, you may want to turn the volume down before the 30 second mark.
