As with any high-profile murder case*, public sentiment and debate comes with the territory. Naturally, this is expressed over the internet and, in particular, social media. As a result, Pistorius’ spokesperson has commented on Reeva’s family’s pain.
According to News24:
Murder-accused paralympian Oscar Pistorius and his family have bemoaned the tone of social media comments on his relationship with his deceased girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
“The disregard that is being shown by some – specifically those commenting via social media – for the profound pain that Reeva’s family and friends are going through is very troubling,” the family said in a statement.

I think it’s fair to say that the Pistorius family should try and ignore Twitter and the like for a while. With the amount of people exposed to this case, the ‘tone’ will almost definitely be out of their hands. Whether or not Reeva’s family wanted Pistorius to comment on how they are feeling, is another matter altogether.
