A team of lonely Japanese engineering students from the Univeristy of Tsukuba have developed what they call a “fulfillment coat”, or Riajyuu to stand in for a girlfriend until, you know, they have the chance to find one.
The coat hugs you like a girlfriend would. At least, they guess it does. Two robotic pincers at the back of the coat controlled by a motor simulate a girlfriend’s cuddle from behind. But wait there’s more. Along with the coat, you get a pair of headphones that whispers sweet nothings or into the wearer’s ears.
