During an interview this weekend at the Clinton Global Initiative, comedian and talk show host, Stephen Colbert helped the ex president set up his own Twitter account. Colbert and Clinton settled on the handle, @PresBillyJef, owing to the high number of spam accounts having already claimed most of the useful Bill Clinton handles.
Having been asked by Colbert why he’d taken so long to join Twitter, Billy Jeff said:
I’m sort of insecure. What if you tweet and nobody tweets back? There’s nothing worse than a friendless tweeter, right?
Clinton didn’t really have a choice in the matter, when Colbert forced the account on him on stage. You can witness Colbert writing Clintons first tweet, which Clinton recites to him. The tweet read as follows:
Just spent amazing time with Colbert! Is he sane? He is cool! #cgiu
