New Fan Fighting Video At Newlands Emerges [VIDEO]

Female spectator gets knocked to the ground as she attempts to intervene a fight taking place in the stands at Newlands Stadium for the Stormers v Crusaders match.

A new fan fight video has emerged from the recent Easter weekend Stormers v Crusaders match at Newlands.

The video shows a woman trying to intervene in a fight between hostile spectators at the match, before getting floored by a man hitting her directly in the face. The impact resulted in the woman’s body crumpling, her head hitting the chair. A separate spectator tried to assist her.

The female spectator was later carried away on a stretcher, and was secured in a neck brace. The severity of the womans injuries were unkown according to ER24 spokersperson, Vanessa Jackson.

The catalyst for the fight is unknown. Tensions were running high at the stadium as Stormers fans clashed verbally with members of the so-called “Cape Crusaders” – locals who support the Canterbury Crusaders and All Black sides.

Following the fights, MEC of Cultural Affairs and Sport Ivan Meyer proposed strict new measures be implemented to deal with unruly fans.
