The Queen and the Princess
A new book written by 80’s British TV star and model, Cleo Roco titled The Power of Positive Drinking reveals an auspicious occasion involving Roco herself, comedian Kenny Everett, Freddie Mercury and the late Princess of Wales.
In the book, Cleo claims that during some “alone time” from Prince Charles in 1988, Di and the gang payed a special visit to Royal Vauxhall Tavern. After an afternoon of drinking champagne and watching Golden Girl reruns (as one does) with the sound off and improvising Blanche, Sophia, Rose and Dorothy, the quartet decided to dress Di in a military jacket, dark shades and policeman’s hat and take her to one of Mercury’s favourite gay bars.
Roco says:
When we walked in . . . we felt she was obviously Princess Diana and would be discovered at any minute. But people just seemed to blank her. She sort of disappeared. But she loved it,
Diana even managed to get away with ordering a drink and not being recognized. This could have something to do with the fact that “she did look like a beautiful young man. She was always a very fit girl, so they might have thought, ‘There’s a nice young man with pert buttocks'”, according to Roco.
Apparently, Diana returned Mercury’s borrowed clothes with a note that read “We must do it again!”
Stunning.
