Oscar Pistorius’ brother, Carl Pistorius is set to appear in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court today. Pistorius faces charges of culpable homicide relating to a traffic collision in 2008, which lead to the death of a 38 year-old woman.
Pistorius’ family attorney, Kenny Oldwage said in a statement last month that the charges of culpable homicide were brought against Pistorius had subseqently been withdrawn by the State, but the National Prosecuting Authority has reinstated those charges.
Oldwage said the charges would be challenged in court, and said that that there is “no doubt that Carl is innocent.”
Carl deeply regrets the accident. Blood tests conducted by the police at the time proved that he had not been under the influence of alcohol, confirming that it was a tragic road accident after the deceased collided with Carl’s car.
