Kickstarter has been flooded by “Veronica Mars” fans attempting to bring their dream of a movie closer to reality by pleding money to raise funds. Currently the pot is sitting at $3,2 million (R30,5 million), which is a hell of a lot more than the goal of $2 million for this project.
Yesterday, fans smashed the standing Kickstarter record for reaching $1 million, pegging the figure down in four hours and 24 minutes. Kristen Bell tweeted:
GOOD GOD YOU GUYS RULE. #veronicamarsmovie

Fans are raising money to bring the cult TV show to the movie screens. Series creator, Rob Thomas and star, Kristen Bell are hoping to create a low budget feature film that will be based on the TV series.
Thomas said:
Kristen and I met with the Warner Bros. brass, and they agreed to allow us to take this shot. Their reaction was, if you can show there’s enough fan interest to warrant a movie, we’re on board.
Fans who donated to the cause received digital copies of the movie’s script, T-shirts, tickets to the premier and a voicemail greeting from Bell herself. Fans who donated $10 000 (R95 000) have the opportunity to audition for a speaking role in the film.
